Everyday, after school, I usually do my assignments, take a nap or sometimes I log in to this website called FACEBOOK. But what's facebook? According to Wikipedia, Facebook is a social networking service wherein users may create a personal profile, add other users as friends, and exchange messages, including automatic notifications when they update their profile. According to some, Facebook is a way of expressing themselves and to say something about what they believe in. But if you'd ask me, facebook is just one of the websites I visit wherein it becomes easy for me to speak my mind, to show my skills and talents, to know more about my friends, and for easier communication with them. It allows people who probably never would have met each other in person to communicate, it creates new relationships and friendships, and it places distance between people who could communicate in person but instead choose to communicate online. It is just another element of society that is interested in sharing information with the intimacy of a close, personal relationship. At a glance, a user can learn everything from what gender a Facebook member is, to what religion they believe in, what school they attend, and their likes and dislikes, all in a few clicks. It gives you too much information about someone and that is what makes it dangerous. Yes, everything is easy because of facebook but just like everything, especially to products of technology, it has its own disadvantage. First of all, it can easily transfer virus to your computer by just clicking a fake advertisment or post. An innocent child can easily see a pornographic photo because of a careless adult. A person with a bad intention can easily stalk someone and pose as that person just to destroy the reputation of the person. The facebook users have lesser privacy because of the posts he/she makes. And so for our own safety, we should be careful of what we post and of what we share to our facebook friends. We shouldn't easily meet up with, talk to, and most importantly, we shouldn't give information to a stranger or even to a new or not that close facebook friend. We shouldn't be into much publicity for us to stay safe. And let us all remember that there’s more to life outside facebook, where we personally know our friends that we tag along, where we can easily say if we like or dislike something..where we can comment just about anything! So now, what’s on your mind?
